Congrats man. The 3 is an amazing car and I know you will enjoy it. What tranny did you get? Also I know that in the US the hatch is the 3s standard but I have no clue about anywhere else. Just in case you aren't in the US what engine did you get? Again, congrats.

well i have it and i use it just for fun its very cool just to play arround and like get a lil more acceleration

when wouldn't u
I think its fun using the clutchless shifter. I mean when ur in stop and go traffic hit the auto and when u got some room to stretch your pistons u throw that sucker in manual and take off

thats right

I have a 5spd, but I sort of disagree with newtype. bbsid, the 'clutchless shifting' is very useful in stop and go traffic and when traveling in hills or windy roads because it can eliminate unnecessary shifting - which translates to wear on your transmission and brakes. For example, when in stop and go traffic, your car will constantly shift from gears 1 through 3 and maybe even 4. However, if you control it, you can keep the car in a lower gear (1 or 2) so it is ready to 'go' without downshifting and it well help the car 'stop' by using the engine to slow the car down. When driving in hills or windy roads you want to keep the car in third most of the time so that you don't gain too much speed down the hill and you have enough power to go up the hill without downshifting.
Another application is when approaching turns, you can downshift into third or second depending on the speed right before the turn, so the car is ready to accelerate out of the turn. Those of us who drive stick shifts do all these things regularly, For basic off the line acceleration, the clutchless shifter is unnecessary. The automatic transmission knows when the best time to shift is. Just hit the gas harder and the car will stay in the lower gear longer. |
