New Help on Air Intake
 

1 ..... I’m thinking about putting a aftermarket Air Intake for my 2009 Mazda 3 T
but i was talk to a guy at the Mazda dealer and said ( putting one on will
blowout your mass flow air sensor ) so i wanna know what you all think
before i get one

2...... i wanna put Zoom - Zoom logo on my M3 but i want it in Japanese symbols
but i can find anything on the net to fine the Kanji

you probably won't able to find the Zoom-Zoom logo in Japanese Kanji.

On the air intake, i doubt that mass flow air sensor will blowout. A lot of people installed it and nobody had any problem like that. My brother works at Mazda so I'm gonna check it just for my interest (although you already talked to the Mazda guys).

i asked my brother and he said it impossible that happens. the only way that may mess up the sensor is air filter. if you get the filter that sucks air too much then it may mess up the sensor. but overall, aftermarket intake won't mess up the sensor. i don't know what your mazda dealer guy even said that kind of stuff

I'm running a turbo kit, and had a cold air on for 4 years never ANY problems. Mazda service techs are restarted, literally.

dude...that is 100% true about cold air intakes. i put an AEM in and i have had nothing but problems since. i am now replacing the MAF for the 2nd time in 3 months. i can assure you that i will be pulling that out and putting in a short ram intake next week.

if you think it won't happen to you then go for it. some people seem to not have problems, but i know 2 other guys who have had issues, one blew his motor. if you decide to go with the CAI then let me know i have an AEM i'll sell ya for cheap.

most common problem is people donot give enough slack on the harness and it stretches the MAF wire. Unclip from battery box if you are going to install, it gives you the extra room you need so the harness doesnt break.

that was exactly the problem. all fixed now, but i already pulled out the CAI. so, if anyone is interested i will sell you my AEM CAI CHEAP!!!!!! let me know....

If I added a CAI I'd probably add another layer of foam element to it. In addition MAFs can be cleaned out to clear the CELs a great deal of the time with carb cleaner. I'm not 100% sure though because I just joined the MZ3 group due to the theft of my 01 Audi S4. Not a good car to have in Baltimore (doing a residency @Hopkins). I'm eager to leave, I'll be done in a tad less than a year. I'm glad to be part of the MZ3 group though...this car impressed me quite a bit and I got a steal of a deal on it!!! So when residency is over, maybe I can sell it for no loss since I walk or use public transportation to work (still need a car for groceries, etc though)

I thought most agressive cleaner fluids - like carb cleaner and brake parts cleaner were harmful to MAF sensors... this may depend on what type of sensor tchnology is used. Electrical contact cleaner was preferred for a spray - or MAF cleaner spray that is also available.
