Need help on programming remote on 2004 Mazda 3

Hi all,

Just bought a 2004 Mazda 3 hatchback but only comes with 1 working remote, so I ordered one from ebay and try to program it by the following procedures.

Step 1: Open driver side door and leave open.
Step 2: Lock and Unlock the drivers door using the power door lock switch on the door
Step 3: Insert key into the ignition.
Step 4: Turn Key to ON position and return to Lock (off) position. Do this 3 times within 10 seconds. LEAVE key in the ignition in Lock (off) position.
Step 5: Close and open the drivers door 3 times. Leave door open after this step
Step 6: ECU should respond by locking and unlocking the doors once.
Step 7: Press any button on remote #1 twice. ECU responds by locking and unlocking the car doors.
Step 8: Additional remotes, repeat Step 7 for up to 3 remotes total.
Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and the ECU will respond a final time with a series (about 4) of door locks and unlocks. You're done!

My problem is after doing the first 5 steps, the ECU will not respond by locking and unlocking the doors once. However, after step 5, if I turn the key to ON or remove the key from ignition, the ECU will response lock and unlock TWICE rather than ONCE. Then I tried to proceed to Step 7 but no luck, the new remote cannot trigger the ECU respond and the current remote will just send signal to lock / unlock the car. I realize that the car is not in a programming mode since Step 6 is never happened to me.

Thanks for reading and appreciate if anyone can help me on this. Thanks...

Good luck. I'm not sure if this will work with a genpu (2010-2013), but it will work on all 1st gen 3's and even a 6.

Hi all
Hoping someone may be able to help me. Trying to program a remote bought on ebay, it wont work and the seller keeps asking me if my car is 313mhz. Does anyone know if different Mazdas are on different frequencies for their remotes?
Thanks
