Need advice for modding
I have a 2013 Mazdaspeed3 and I need some help. Ive picked out a few mods that I want to start with and I’ve decided on a injen cold air intake, magnaflow catback exhaust and a Turbosmart dualport blow off valve. I’m new to doing any car mods and I have a few questions. 1. Even though these are pretty minor performance mods is it necessary or advised that I do supporting mods like stuff for upgrading cooling for example? 2. Since I have 122000km on my vehicle I want to change the spark plugs and have decided on Denso iridium ITV22 spark plugs. These spark plugs have a heat rating of 7 which is 1 stage higher than factory and I was wondering if this would cause any problems or if this is a good choice because of the mods I’m getting |
The 1st two mods for any MS3 should be a high pressure fuel pump and an Accessport. MS3s are infamous for running lean when you turn the boost up and that's how you blow up an engine. The HPFP will take care of that. The Accessport will control the fuel pump and all the new parameters it introduces. If you start installing mods that bring in even more air (intake/exhaust) before taking care of the fuel pump, your car isn't going to like it.

Oh another question I have is that with all these mods would I need to upgrade my fuel or could I continue to run 91 octane? And if I did need to what octane would I need; because the highest I can get that is easily accessible is 94 |

After those two items, you can go berserk with mods. In my pot-smoked filled experience, its best to do some research and find what you want/need, then hit eBay or wherever to buy the goods. Don't fall for ebay junk that seems inexpensive and nice. Megan, D2, OBX, and so many more are all made from thin, cheap Chinese metal that will disintegrate.
