Mazda3 Angel Eyes
I just ordered angel eyes for my 2.0L Mazda3 im trying to get help from mazda owners that know a little bit about how to set it up for have a understanding with the wiring. I would like to set it up as if they were day time running lights more or less. I was looking at forums and seen someone with a MS3 did it by tapping into his fuse box because they have an extra spot in theres. if someone could help that would be great.
Also i would like to know if someone could point me the right way in how to make the picture boxes that people have at the bottom of there comments with there cars. Any help would be great thanks |

cant you just splice the wires from the daytime runners?
or does the maz3 not have them (never really looked hard enough to notice if there were or werent) |
Angel Eyes
You can splice them from the daytime runnning lights but you will have to live with the consequences. I did this to my car and first the drivers side angel eyes went out. So i had to strip the wiring and re-do the entire process (could have been bad connection) but now my passenger side is out for some reason. I had these installed by a friends auto shop. However, sometimes my front blinker wont work and the angel eyes overall are unreliable.
Im currently working on solving the connection problems but I doubt I will be able to find a solution for the unreliable turn signal. Also, it made my drivers side turn signal blink faster than the passengers side sometimes. Not a huge problem, just annoying. So, yes, it CAN be done. But there may be some small issues to work out. |
This is a writeup for the 6, but the same concepts should be applicable to the 3. In fact, you can probably follow the writeup exactly as written, with the only modification being the location of the relay that you tap for power.

HERE's the walkthrough those pictures above came from, and it includes which slot in the fuse box to use.
To comment on that slot. It's used by many people for angel eyes, and also for one of the independent foglight mods. Several people have had issues with it becoming energized after the car has been sitting parked for several hours. Just want you to be aware of it. I have mine wired up to a switch inside the cabin that's hot with ACC (the same one my auto dim mirror runs off of, though you can also use the cigarette lighter). I currently have them default to off and I turn them on manually every time, however I could set it to have them auto on if I change my mind later. When the ignition turns off they're off. I do suggest running in to the lighter at least and adding a switch, that way you can kill them if you want to. |
