mazda3
i have a 2006 mazda3.sometimes it won't start in park.if i move the shift lever around it will start.it will always start in neutral.anyone esle got this problem or know how i might fix it? thanks

You either have a bad microswitch in the shifter, or the sensor which tells the computer the car is in park is faulty. Basically the car doesn't know it's in park so it doesn't start.

thanks.the other problem i have is that once in awhile as i drive along at about 60km,the trans will shift in manual and drop to third gear.i have to stop and take it out of gear and put it back to auto.this only happens a few times.could use some advice.thanks

Are you running low in the gear? IIRC in the manu-matic mode if your rpm's drop too low in a given gear it will shift down for you.
