Is there a way to change color. I pefer more subdued color like blue or green

Not unless you take apart the instrument panel and replace the led's with a different color.

Like he said you have to replace the LEDs.

Nope, that's commie's from mazda3forums. He has a pretty good walkthrough over there on how to do it.

You should keep the red--it interferes the least with night vision.

theres a button between the speedometer and tach that you push when you have your lights on and it will change to a blue. Least it does in my car. But I like the red so I stick with it

that button doesn't actually change the gauges to blue, it only puts a blue shadow-like background, to basicly make it easier to see the gauges at night. that would be cool if it did change the actual numbers to blue though.

Actually the button doesn't put the blue in, the headlights do. When the headlights are off the button will incrementally dim the red gauges (at least on the electroluminescent gauges). When the headlights are on the blue LEDs shine on the gauge faces, however the red lighting is still really bright. When the lights are on the button will swap the red lights between day/night mode.... basically when in night mode the red gets dimmer and you can actually see the blue.
