Mazda 3 and iPod issues.
Hello! I'm a proud new owner of a beautiful Mazda 3 hatchback. I love it.
It has the auxillary input under the center console as well as the power adapter. I have my iPod plugged into both. However, when the power cord is plugged in while I'm driving, you can hear the car accelerate through the speakers and there is a buzzing/fuzz noise. When the power cord is unplugged, the sound is perfect. Any ideas what this could be? Is it the cord I'm using (Belkin)? Please help! |
It sounds like a ground problem. You can ask the dealer to try it in a different car and see if its your car or your cables. Good luck!

Is there any other test I can try rather than taking it back to the dealer?

A ground loop interceptor from Radio Shack fixed the problem for $18. Just an FYI!

I bought the one from Crutchfield- the one Radio Shack sells is RCA plugs, and needs adapters to work with the 3.5mm plug.
The Crutchfield model is also flat, and sits between the seats much better than the round one- negating the need for an extension. |
The problem is definitely a ground loop. Many people have used the GLI from crutchfield and fixed the problem.
