Mazda 3 (Cold Air Intake and Exhaust)

Hey guys i just found this webpage and im sure this will be my life for a while. I am an 18 freshman in college and I just got a Mazda 3 4-door 2.3l. It's my baby right now, but im looking for some upgrades. I was speaking to my sales rep and discussing the possibilities for after-market parts or Mazda parts, I was wondering if anyone has any advice on the Mazdaspeed Cold air intake and exhaust that i was looking to put on my car, or if there is an after-market part that will work better?

Also does anyone know any tuner webpages such as accessories specifically for mazdas, or after-market parts just for mazdas? IF you do that would be fantastic :) thanks

I would recommend Fujita, Weapon-R, and AEM, CAI's. Everyone on here has a favorite.

I would have to go with Injen. However my :bt: Weapon-R Dragon Intake :bt: really doesn't sound/perform too bad with the cold air shield off.

hey 18 year old freshman... save your money. you're gonna need it (unless your 'rents are loaded, or your parents are so poor that you can get an ass load of federal loans/grants, which is none of my business) i was there (18 year old freshman) 6 years ago.

i blew my money on my rx7 (parts)... and struggled through college.

it sure was fun though! and i sure did piss off my parents! get the fujita! i got mine off of ebay for 165 shipped, brand new!

If you are on a factory warranty, I would go with an intake that won't void the warranty. K&N says that their intakes won't, but I'm not so sure.

the only way that ANY aftermarket part can void a warranty (by law) is if the part had a cause in the failure of the equipment that it serves... (ie hydrolock from a CAI, or failure of shocks because of lowering springs.) this also means that addition of coil springs would have no effect on the failure of say, an instrument cluster.

with that said... if you get a check engine light caused solely by your CAI, your diagnostic charge would not be covered.

lastly, its your word against theirs... if you dont fight it, theyll screw you!
