Mazda 3 Cold Air Intake and Chip?

1 Attachment(s)
Anyone know of any companies that have made cold air intakes for the Mazda 3 or any chips? I'm dying to get my hands on one to boost my hp. By the way, I bought a Mazda 3 Hatchback in Metallic Silver this Sat (Jan 10th) and am loving it! I looked at the Matrix which is box on wheels with no power and also the Corolla but there is nothing that comes close to the power and handling of a Mazda 3. ;)

I saw a chip claiming to boost HP by 20 tonight on Ebay. This was specificly for the 3, not sure if it is a decent brand or not.

Hey Kneedragger600, I saw the ebay ad you were talking about. I've discussed it with some mechanical engineers that I know and they think it's a bunch of garbage. If there's anyone out there with knowledge on chips, check out this ebay ad for the chip: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2453849061

Ummmm i jus took a look at that Ebay ad, where near the bottom they say to look at the Dyno test results of the before and after installation of this Z1 chip..... which i assume are supposed to be results from testing a M3... BUT... when did the M3 have 218 Hp stock????? boosted to 235 Hp after Z1 Chip install???? seems a little odd to me..

I wouldn't expect a CAI for awhile. You could try contacting AEM, Injen, K&N, etc. to see if they are developing one. It may take awhile to get a finished product. You could also ask them if you could be their guinea pig and you could help them test one. Check it out and see what happens, cant hurt.

I would think that if the Mazda 3s's 2.3L engine is from the Mazda 6i, then an intake should be similar to the ones for the Mazda 6i. I know that there are slight changes from car to car, so I don’t know if an intake for a Mazda 6i would fit a Mazda 3s. I would expect it to be out soon.

I do not know if you guys are just catching up on this, but these under $20 power-gaining chips are bullsh*t, and have been for years. Its a resistor, thats it.

Just a heads up. Goodluck with your new cars. I am very jealous of all of you, but I might be getting one myself, after I graduate college this year.

LOL that 20HP is bs, its a resistor

Anyone know if AEM is any good? I don't think that there would be a big difference between most of them. I was thinking of just waiting until K&N makes a Typhoon for the Mazda 3.

how can they have a chip? if big manufacturers are now working on the simple shit like intakes and headers or exhaust. Unless it's from Japan which I doubt....

Late model Mazda ECU's are encrypted and take a long time to crack the code and come up with a modification that really does anything to significantly boost performance and not make the engine self destruct.
Most Mazdas are programmed to run rich when in the 'performance' area. The quick resistor mod to make it run richer really degrades performance above 4000 rpm
