Mazda 3 Center Console Top Removal ?

Hey Everyone!

I'm new to the Mazda scene. Just bought a new '07 on September 12, 2006. I love it ! I was wondering if anyone knows how to remove the top of the armrest part of the center console. I want to cover it with stitched black leather. I can see two screws when you open the top section, but I don't see any other way to seperate the top from the rest of the console. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I bought the OE leather armrest from Japanparts. It came with instructions, albeit in Japanese, but nonetheless, it was a PITA to remove and to install. From what I remember, the inside of the armrest is held to the cover with 2 or 3 clips along each side. Carefully pry them apart with a flathead screw driver or something similar. Once you get that off there are two screws near he hinge that will have to be removed.

Another Leather Center Console Question?

Hey Bluntman,

Thanks for the info. Do you remember how you filled out the order form on the Japanparts.com website. Did the part come directly to your house, or did you have to pick it up at a "Greyhound" / Airport location? I live in NJ and the site doesn't seem to let you choose a city to deliver it to or your home address. Also, what method of payment did you use and how long did it take to get to you? Finally, how was the condition of the part you received? I really like the idea of having a leather armrest. Any help, greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You have a PM, but I also forgot to mention that I picked up my item from the local post office. Oh, I was wrong in saying that brokerage fees were collected, it was more like, taxes and brokerage fees.
