Invoice or MSRP

Hello again everyone,

Another question-when I get my S-plan pricing from Mazda, will I get the 6% off on invoice or the MSRP?

ALSO, when is the best time to buy, deals, money off. My friend told me he got 5K off his Mazda6... when they were running a special. Any info would be awesome.

s-plan is not a straight 6% off period...it's usually close to 6-7%, but it varies from car to car, based on model and options....

if you are buying a 3, there is no "better time"...they are selling too well...even at 4 yrs old for this chassis, there are still no rebates, just finance incentives

thank you very much! you've posted many times that have helped me out. I am very cautious about switching auto makers due to the luck I have had with them and your making this decision easier!

btw, the discount is off msrp, i just noticed i never actually answered that question...

actually this time of year is pretty good for almost any type of car. at least from around here. the dealers will sometimes start offering their own discounts and such to move cars off the lot before the end of the year so they wont have to pay taxes on as much inventory. especially if they have current model year inventory still on the lot.

Alright, macdaddy, since you closed the other thread... What is the S-plan price for an '08 3i touring with ABS/SAB/SAC package?

Those aren't the only variables...so i can't answer that question...

Why do you need to know ??..

If you came into this thread just to argue with me again, you may be earning yourself a temporary ban...

that's partially true, it's actually about "floor planning" or dealer financing...dealers finance the cars they buy from the manufacturer, so the faster they move them off the lot after they receive them, the higher the profit margin..."invoice" is what the dealer paid for the car...you ocasionally see a dealer sell a car below invoice, but only because it sat on the lot for so long they are actually starting to lose money on the car,due to finance charges...... but try and find a 3 that's been sitting on the lot for a while...again there is a reason there are still almost NO incentives on this car...dealers are complaining production isnt high enough on this car to meet their demand.

you can however get a KILLER deal on a 6 right now...they don't sell nearly as well as the 3

Honestly, I'm just curious. Doesn't every person who just bought a new car want to know whether they got a good deal? Heck, I wonder if I paid too much for groceries, much less a new car. What are the other variables you speak of? The figures you shared in the other thread appear to be for a base 3i sport. I'm only trying to get to the bottom line. Can you give a for-instance on a 3i Touring with ABS/SAB/SAC?

It's interesting, and encouraging, what you said about low inventory and high demand after four years, and so near the redesign. Makes me feel like I bought into a good brand with high resale value.

Mazda's website (https://portal.mazdausa.com/prod/ema...splan_info.htm) says:

"HOW ARE S-PLAN PRICES DEVELOPED?

S-Plan prices represent a substantial discount from MSRP and includes any retail incentive if applicable. Under the S-Plan...

S-plan price is equal to total dealer invoice including transportation fees and any assessment fees; state and/or local.
The S-Plan price is printed on the factory invoice and is NONNEGOTIABLE. The dealer is required to provide the customer with a true copy of the factory invoice showing the New Vehicle Purchase Plan price.
The dealership may charge any price negotiated between the dealer and the customer for undercoating, dealer-installed options, extended service contracts and any other items or services that add value to the vehicle.
The customer is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes, license and title fees.
NOTE: Please be advised that with each Mazda dealership being an independently owned and operated franchise a documentation fee may also be added to the final price of the vehicle."

Other places indicate S-plan is below invoice??? I'm confused. Not that I would have qualified for S-plan anyway, but I am curious to see how my deal at $12 below invoice compares to this.

one big variable is the transmission..but i would really need the whole worksheet on the car...you cant tell me that package is the ONLY option on the car....but just based on those variables alone on a 5-speed...the difference in price is around $1300..the higher the MSRP, the greater the discount from what i see...bear in mind the discount applies to the options too

I just paid $17k even for an 08 automatic 3i Touring with ABS/SAB. Didn't think I did too bad.
