Mazda 3 - Squeaky Driver Seat

Love the car except for one thing. The driver's side seat squeaks. It squeaks when I enter first gear and accelerate, it squeaks when I apply the breaks and it squeaks when I make a turn.

I have been driving for 40 years and this is the first time I have ever experienced this issue. Absolutley making me crazy and I have had the car nearly a year and have only put 5,000 miles on it.

The dealer is not that great and everytime I need the smallest thing done it usually takes 2 -3 visits.

Wanted to see if anyone else had an issue with it before I try the dealer or unload the car.

Thanks in advance.

My seat belt squeaks as well usually when the belt is kinda tight. It goes away if I loose the belt a bit
It's very annoying but like dentinger said - with the music on...
Now my front pass window started clicking at the point when its completely closed so I might have to visit the dealership AGAIN

Resolution

Problem resolved. Took the car to the dealer and the claim to have removed the seat and relubricated everything? So far so good, no noise at all.

I think the noise is my car trying to talk to me...and tell me I am too big to be in the seat.

But to be serious, I found out it was my seat belt clasp and I just move that a bit and it usually fixes it.

Talking Squeaky Drivers Seat

I had the same problem with squeaky seat just after I got my 06, 3. I thought it was the seat until someone posted they had replaced the seat belts and noise stopped. Took my car to dealer and told them of situation, they had not heard of the problem before but did replace driver seat belt part (where seat belt snaps into) and the problem went away. You can tell if it is in the seat belt part noted if you move the part up and down and the noise goes away.

Inspection Fee!

Found this thread from Google ... I have the same problem and I think it is the seatbelt. The trouble is the dealer said they do not know if this problem will be covered under the warranty. They need to inspect it before they can know. However, if this is not under the warranty cover, I will have to pay £50 +VAT for the inspection fee. I phoned the manufacturer and they said this is how it works !!!!

What was your situation? Do they simply do it without this unfair condition?

Squeaky Seat

Like a lot of MZ3 owners, I have been trying to ignore my squeaky seats for a couple of years, but finally had enough. I had a hell of a time finding the culprit. When my 98 lb son sits in the passenger seat, it squeaks like crazy, but when I plunk my 200+ lb self down there and thrash around, nothing.

Finally identified the seat belt arm, as mentioned by a number of others, but to my surprise, it was not metal on metal, though I did put some machine oil on the bolt and its associated washers while I had the thing apart. But the squeak was actually caused by the vinyl sheath for the seatbelt unbuckle alarm wire rubbing against the metal arm.

You'll need a low clearance 14 mm ratcheting wrench to get the thing off. There's not much room to work, worse on the passenger side. Then pull the wire out of the first clip where it's hooked to the seat rail (that is, the part that's attached to the seat,) so you can get the thing up into daylight and flip it over. I used cloth hockey tape to wrap the first three inches or so of the sheath after it exits the buckle housing. There's a piece of electrical tape to keep it from getting yanked around too much. Problem solved, about fifteen minutes. Getting the bolt out and back in is the most tedious part of the job. Lefty loosey on both seats, need some force to get it started.

Good luck, gang!

That sounds a difficult job for me ... fortunately I just tried my luck (after I posted my thread a few years ago) and spray some WD40 around the hinge of the seatbelt arm and PROBLEM SOLVED

Good luck
