I wonder

what engines could fit in a m3i in a direct way?
cause i know you could make everything fit but you would have to rebuild everything and thats a lot of money.

Roddimus Prime January-8th-2005 09:27 PM

:sigh: Karen, you wanna take this one.

M3 January-10th-2005 02:37 PM

if somebody knows please post cause im really curious

Roddimus Prime January-10th-2005 02:38 PM

the 2.3L 3S engine will fit....directly. thats about it.

M3 January-10th-2005 02:44 PM

thats the only one ok and how much it will be for that

Roddimus Prime January-10th-2005 02:50 PM

i dunno, you should call a dealer and ask for a complete 2.3L engine with ecu (you may need a harness)....if I had to guess. I'd say about $6K.....for an additonal 12hp.

Roddimus Prime January-10th-2005 02:50 PM

p.s. not to mention labor.

M3 January-10th-2005 02:55 PM

yeah its not even worth it thanks bro i ask cause on the honda you could fit the diff kinds of v-tech

Roddimus Prime January-10th-2005 03:22 PM

why not just wait a few months and buy a nice turbo kit for your car??? they'll make awesome power.

juddz January-10th-2005 05:10 PM

...and let me guess, money is no problem, right?

vtohthree January-10th-2005 06:50 PM

Yeah I was kind of curious my self, I still don't own a MZ3 yet, I will definately sometime, maybe even this year. I am still struggling between the 3i or 3s because the 3i gets decent gas mileage and I could settle for the -12hp. However, I am a sucker for turbo, and if the the 3s is where the mainstream support is at, then thats where I wanna be. Yes, they may come out with some turbo kits for the i, however ain't nothing like a turbo with a vvti setup, double wammy. :)

Roddimus Prime January-10th-2005 07:04 PM

yeah, I always buy the bigger motor. Mainly because of the performance but also for the resale value and bigger aftermarket.

in all honesty though the 2.3 and 2.0 are PHYSICALLY the same engines with different displacement....similar to the last 2.0L fs-de and the 1.8L fp-de. If you were to buy the 2.0L you could buy the 2.3L intake and exhaust....

vtohthree January-11th-2005 11:38 PM

Does the 2.0 have a vvti system as well? I was under the impression from the website that it wasn't. I just want to confirm it.

they do not have the VVT system. My comment about them being very similar is that they are the same block/head/tranny etc....there are a few minor differences.

M3, are you saying you already have a turbo'd Mazda3i? If so, you'll need to back that up with some pictures. Proof is in the pics. Without it you're going to look like a liar.
