I have a 2007 Mazda3 Touring, 5 door, auto .... am getting 25-28 MPG mixed city/suburban and a solid 36.5 MPG @ 70 MPH highway. Very happy with the peppy, yet miserly 2.3L engine. Great car.

i have an 04 2.3L (ATX) also and i'm pretty much hitting the same as you. i'm averaging 30 mpg a tank with my best being 33.526 mpg with mixed driving.

guess the 04's maybe had a better run at the mpgs than the new ones? who knows, i know its still better than anything i own, i had to park my truck and get the car cause i knew i wouldnt be able to afford the gas prices in the future, and im glad i did

Ok, OK for those of you making some ok MPG thats good but I have a better idea... I'll get straight to the point... I have a 2004 regular 3, right now I make 120 miles per 1/4 of a tank. I'll tell you why... well I have installed a hydrogen making container on my 3. you wont believe the power that the car has right now. i barely touch the pedal and it wants to go. I believe right now i make about 35 to 40 mpg. I havent reached an empty tank yet. but on my toyota 4Runner V6 it only used to make 18mpg now it makes 30mpg. the 4runner has a digital MPG reader. well if you want to know where to get one click here, https://paydotcom.com/r/53959/elitorres/18558691/. after i bought the 1st one i found out how to make them and i made the one for the 3 oh and man it feels like it has a turbo on it.

i dont understand why you wouldmake the change because my 3 sport gets close to that mileage in town, and it gets between 35-40 on the highway anyways, and it already feels juicy, just for being stock

well i dont know where you from but i have not seen a mzd3 creating that amount of mileage from anybody i know. but if yours do that well good on you. maybe yours was made specially for MPG saving.

not really, its a 2.3L sport, maybe i just got lucky with the car, there was another guy on here that has the same year and model and he's getting the same mileage as me

I am surprised at some of the numbers I am seeing here posted for mileage...
I have an 08 4dr Mazda3, w/manual trans & CA emmissions...
I have had the car for about 5800 miles and have not gotten less than 31.56 mpg...
On strictly highway tanks, I have gotten as much as 35.XX per gallon.
My last tankful, filled up last night, I got 33.47mpg. This is on 87 octane gas...
What gives??
Is this a testament to yours or my driving style?? Interesting numbers, to be sure...

i'm new on here. i just registered. i've got a '04 m3 since new. it was getting horrible gas mileage. the car's very well maintained and i just couldn't figure out why i was getting such horrible mileage. i was seeing on average 26 mpg. but then i decided to drive like grandma to see what i can extract out of the m3. sure enough, i got 34 mpg!!

i'm very pleased at my gas mileage, but i hate having to drive slow. oh well. i'll learn to coop with the change in driving style.

I have a 1969 Boss 302 to get my driving kicks! For daily driving, I drive like a gramma too, but at $4.60 a gallon and climbing, why not?

So i've got a related question, Has anyone monitored their mileage from day one - or after removing the battery for a while? My mileage is around 29-31 and pretty consistant, though two times it has gotten 35 with no difference in driving style. Once was when I first picked up the car, and the other time was when I disconnected the battery for like 20 mins when messing with the radio.
I'm guessing that the car may run lean for the first tank or something to keep from fouling plugs when driving around the lots as a new car... has anyone else noticed a change like this?
