how-to: enabling DIS ON on mazda sedan 2008
 

Hi, reading the post "unlock trip computer on non GT MS3" dated 02-14-2007, I tried what they suggested on my 2008, sedan, mazda 3, automatic, 6CD changer, no mp3, no aux. But it didnt worked.

However the following combo worked

1- engine is off
2- press FM button first and CD button second (do it otherwise and it wont work)
3- Turn key to ACC, no need to turn engine ON.
4- display will read DIS ON after 3 seconds.
5- turn key to off.

the above combo survives start/stop and no need to remove battery or press the brake key like other posts suggested.

Note: in my country (panama), the 2008, sedan, automatic, mazda 3 comes with DIS OFF and the manual shows no option to turn it on. it does not even speak about DIS. And, my console has the SET button, all models in panama have the SET button.

So now when i turn on my car i can press the SET button to switch from various readings for my car (average speed (Km), fuel comsuption (Km/L), average Km with the remaining fuel (Km/tank).

Hope it works for somebody else.

Just to clarify. I guess the model that is begin sold in my country is the europe model. Not sure. Here is a pic from my central console.

The AUX jacks on the US models are inside the lower armrest storage area. That pop-off cover is an access cover for a bolt if I remember correctly

I do not have the AUX in the armrest storage. :tear:

I didn't work for me. I have a 2008 3i Touring. Bummer.

Sorry to hear that. I was reading a tech manual and the logics/wiring of the DIS in the Touring/sedan remain the same. I can't really tell why is not working on your model.

I purchased the factory workshop manual and i'll glance though it today to see if it says anything in there about it. would be nice to have this feature!

For the life of me I havent been able to even see the "DIS" on my car.
Ive tried the above method and most combos 'except' disconnecting the battery.
Im guessing that Im still "DIS DISABLED". Anyone have experiance on this?

UPDATE: I actually found a (unrelated) issue with my stereo and they put another one on order. I asked the Mazda tech and he said some 08's do and some dont. He tried on mine and apparently mine dosent. With any luck may the replacement headunit will..

I have an 08' Mazda 3i touring value edition and can't get it to work and that makes me a sad panda

Bad mileage and no mpg gage.
 

I know. I'm only getting 21mpg with my 2.3 auto 5speed.
I drive ez too.

Hello! i have a Mazda 3 2008 i've bought in Mexico;

It doesn't have the "Info" button, it has a ":00" button.

however i tried to follow the steps, i got the "DIS ON" message, but still unable to view the functions.

Anyone can help me?

That's crazy! I'm getting 26mpg on mixed driving conditions.

Confirmed - I was able to enable the DIS ON on my new to me 2007 Mazda 3s hatchback by only doing this step:


1- engine is off
2- press FM button first and CD button second (do it otherwise and it wont work)
3- Turn key to ACC, no need to turn engine ON.
4- display will read DIS ON after 3 seconds.
5- turn key to off
6- Turn car on and the SET button now selects/cycles thru the gas consumption information
