How to Change Side Blinker Bulbs?

I am looking to replace the bulbs in my 05 mazda 3 i and i was wondering how to remove the plastic covers on the side blinkers?

You have to go up through your front wheel fender. Take off the plastic fender and take a flashlight and look up there. You should see it.

You can just pop the side blinkers out by lifting out on one side i found out, But once you get them out it looks like it is one solid piece. Can you remove the bulbs or do you just have to get new ones?

The side blinkers come in two different types. Either its one bulb or its a bunch of led lights. If its a bunch of yellow led lights then your going to have to buy a new light. Im asumming you want the light white or blue. But yeah check that out first.

It is one amber colored bulb for each side blinker. I bought red blinker lights to match the car but, it looks like you cannot remove the plastic cover from the housing. Does anyone know how i would go about removing the covers? or is it not do able.

What does the Owners manual say?

Definetly nothing about removing the plastic cover off the side blinkers housing...... Has anyone ever seen red side blinkers for the M3i or Know a web link? I have seen them on a newer Jetta and they look exactly like the M3 side blinkers.

The fender turn signal is a single piece that's meant to be fully replaced when it burns out. If you want to replace just the bulb then you would have to physically cut open the plastic housing and then reseal it. If you have a steady hand and are patient then it will come out just fine. Once open it takes a standard 194 bulb. There are several aftermarket housings (both LED and incandescent) available also.

To remove the OEM housing push the signal towards the back of the car. This will compress a tension clip and then the front of the housing can be swung out of the fender. Then just unplug the housing from the wiring and you're good to go. Make sure the wire doesn't fall back into the fender or you'll have a fun time fishing it back out again.
