Fog lamps on WITHOUT headlights?

Hi all.......I would like any input regarding a seemingly simple mod I would like to preform on my 2005 MAZDA3. I want the fog lamp switch to activate the fog lamps regardless of the headlamp switch position.

Direct from the factory, as you know, the fog lamps will not switch on unless the headlamp switch is ON. I want to be able to drive with the foglamps on ONLY, if I so choose.

Any ideas?

You could just wire them into the same circuit as the running lights, so when you turn them on, the fog lights will come on....or, just put them on a seperate switch.

I'm going to check out some things today when I have my car opened up (putting in my ram air today... finally!)...

Usually all you have to do is connect the fog lamp fuse to the same fuse as the running lights, and then if the turning signal lights are a specific bulb style, you can put some electrical tape over one of the connectors and they won't turn on in their "dim" state so all you'd have on is your fog lamps, and when you have your headlights on, you won't have the amber poking through those nice projectors...

I'll see if that can be done when I look at my car here shortly.

It certainly would if they saw it......they look to blame anything on you and would say your uneven tire wear was caused by this mod. Cool thing is it takes only moments to put it back to stock and make it look like it itsn't altered........you just have to hide the wire coming through the firewall.
