Eibach Pro Kit (yet another suspension thread)
 

I found a place that I is selling Eibach Pro spring kit "on sale". They have them overpriced at regular and their on sale price is about on par with what I see them going for online in USD (434CDN gone down to 260CDN, kinda ridiculous).

Anyways, I was wondering if putting these on my 3s with the stock struts would decrease the life of my struts? Or am I better off doing it right and getting coilovers or a full strut/spring package? (at which point, I won't get anything b/c of budget).

I also heard that the springs will compress over time and lower my ride height even more.

One last thing - do you think this would cause a huge problem for bottoming out/scraping for winter icey/snowy conditions?

I'm sure someone has something to say about suspensions...

Dunno much about the Mazda 3s but on the Protege5 it seems the Eibach Pro Kit is one of the most popular choices. Usually, that's for a good reason .. normally cuz it's a quality product that doesn't screw with the rest of your suspension.

Quite honestly tho, any aftermarket spring is going to decrease the life of your stock struts. Some will do it faster than others, but generally there's no such springs that doesn't kill struts. If you can find out whether the springs are progressive or linear, that should help you in deciding as progressive springs tend to be less harsh than linear. Linear springs just destroy stockies, but are better for handling .. so if your car is a daily driver try to stay away from linear and sleeve type coilvers. On the other hand, if you can actually afford a full coilover kit with struts and all, that's definately the way to go.
