Door Dent Problem

Hi all I bought my White GT in April it has 700km (420miles) on it and right now I hate it :Kill1: I recently discovered a huge dent on passanger door above the handle and below the handle. So I have only driven my Mazda 3 sport sedan to and from work, were at home I park it in my garage and at work in a underground parkade beside my brother's car. I took it to the dealer and he said he's never had a problem with weak door panels, now I also took it to a paintless dent removal shop and for $225.00 CAD he can repair it like new, he told me that Mazda's have weak door panels and that someone must have leaned on it to cause the damage. NOW has anyone else had this problem? I had a Honda Prelude for 8 years I traded in to buy my Mazda 3 and right now I'm not in a good place with the car, I'm not impressed with how weak the doors are. Anyone have any feedback/advice?

Thanks All

Um, it's a new economy car. Name one car in the 3's market segment that the door panels are anything more than a thin sheet of aluminum.

You hate the car because your door has a dent in it? Dude think about how dumb and petty that sounds. Maybe there are other problems we dont know about, but you hate the entire car because one of your friends probably leaned up against the car the wrong way and left a dent?

I leaned against mine and put a big dent in the back passenger side door. I think the problem isn't so much weak panels as it's the design. The sharp crease along the top of the door (by the handles) just happens to make it pretty impossible for dents to pop out on their own, otherwise I'm sure they would.

Car Doors are Cheap

Like I said said I've had the car for only 2 months and already it's gonna cost me $225.00 out my pocket because the doors are cheap, that's bullshit! I had my Prelude for 8 years and not 1 door dent to repair. They dent from someone leaning on them come on, makes me feel pretty safe if I get hit in the side in an accident. I think I will drive this tin can for a couple of years then get something better.

Hey to ANCA.. It's more than a small door dent it's almost 25% of the door that has a become indented, not a little dime sized dent, so ya I'm pissed and I have no idea how it happened.

door dent

Well I spent $20 on the "As seen on TV" Ding King. I had a grapefruit sized dent about 1-1.5" deep into the panel right below the sharp crease in the panel. Is my repair perfect? Not at all. Is it an improvement, and do most people just not notice it? Yes. I figure I'll wait until someone decides to ding me with their car and then pay to get it fixed.... or rather have them pay.

You could always try that route, or one of the suction cup pullers before going to a dent repair place. A friend of mine had great success with the suction cup puller, and they work much better on big dents than on small ones, and the way you're describing it you have a big dent.

Just my $.02

Yeh, i have a nice ding on my car too. i accidently pulled out without noticing my shit head neighbor, who had parked right outside my garage bay, and jsut tapped the side of his car, and it put a nice dent in it. im tkaing it to a specialty shop to get it repaired for 50 bucks, go around and get some more quotes.

Yes you shouldn't be complaining. After having my M3 for 3 months, we had a hail storm with egg sized hail that lasted for 1 minute. Over $5,000 in damage to my brand new car. People's windsheilds were broken, etc. The parking lot was a mess, the hail was bouncing up 4 ft from hitting the ground. I had to have the hood, trunk, and roof replaced. It will never be the same as it was.

Just remember that things could always be worse than what they already are. You have a nice car.
