Cigarette lighter question

Hi all

Purchased a 2011 Mazda 3 GS last week, included in the the deal was a Cigarette lighter and ashtray, when we picked up the car we noticed they were not installed,we asked why and we were told they were on back order.

My wife received a phone call on Friday from the Mazda dealer saying she could have the ashtray but installing the cigarette lighter would blow up the fuse box and was not designed to go in this car (Mazda 3 GS 2011), it has to come with it already installed,so the dealer is saying no to getting the lighter which sounds like a lot of BS to me .

Even feel stupid asking but what the heck...

Thanks

Granted cars vary by location, but every Mz3 I've ever seen has come with the ashtray insert and a cigarette lighter plug. Did your '11 not even have the lighter port, or is it just missing the pop out lighter itself?

There is a cig lighter port,i telephoned another Mazda dealer asking if they would install and they said Yes no problem then when i told them the real story they said it's very strange and Mada would not offer it if it was not compatible.

i am going to the the dealer today.

So they're selling just the pop out plug? What are you going there for them to "install"?

From what the dealer told me it's not just the cig lighter it's what the lighter sits in ,you cannot just put the cig lighter into a plug that was designed to be an electronic device adapter, anyways saw my dealer yesterday and it took 2 minutes to change their mind, they have ordered the parts and will install .

Thanks for the input anyways (no pun intended) ;)
