Can a 2003 Mazda Protege Engine be put into a 2003 Mazda 3 Hatch that had a 2.3 in it

Hello everyone! I am new to this site but am in need of some information from you know-it-all's to get a project done.
Getting right down to it, we totalled our 2003 2.0 FS-DE powered Protege with a deer last year and have been trying to figure out what to do with it.... Time allowing I will be trying to transplant this engine into a donor car that needs an engine as this body is toast. Costs are trying to be kept to a minimum and ease of transplant is high priority as well. (kind-of) locally we have found a sporty Mazda 3 that had a hydrolocked 2.3 Liter pulled from it that is at a decent price. Would transplanting this 2003 2.0 FS-DE engine be an easy swap into the 2004 Mazda 3 that was previously sporting the 2.3? Were there many changes (i.e. motor mounts, fitment of accessories, overall under-hood layout) in the change from Protege to Mazda 3 and also will the same harness be able to be utilized between the 2.3 and the 2.0?
Sorry this is such a long post but I wanted to give plenty of information to keep the questions to a minimum. Thank you all so much for any help ahead of time!!!
Thanks Guys!!!!
