Buying a Mazda 3... Questions...
 

Hi Guys, im about to buy a Mazda3 GT w/ the GFX Package and i have some questions when it comes to options/accessories. I'm on the webpage right now using the building and pricing wizard.
So im just going to number my questions cuz i have a lot, and the people at the dealership here in edmonton dont know what they're talking about, and you guys seem a hell of a lot more knowledgeable than them:

Question 1) What's the Ashtray Replacement Compartment? Do i already have a compartment? or does this replace the ashtray with a compartment? because im not a smoker, so id rather just have an extra compartment for change and such.

Question 2) what are Door Switch Panels? At the dealership they coudlnt tell me, the guy working there had never seen one with this option before so he couldnt tell me what they are.

Question 3) What are the Lower Door Mouldings? Do they come with the GFX Package, or what? Are they the little piece that sticks out to prevent door dings, or are they like sideskirts or what?

Question 4) would i be able to wire up the MP3 Player to aftermarket amps? because i dont want to put an aftermarket deck in because i dont want to ruin the beautiful dash the mazda3 has..

sound like a varied group of questions....I will answer them as best I can.

1. I believe instead of getting the pull out ashtray you'll just have an additional little pocket there maybe the size of a pack of business cards...I use mine for keys.

2. Door switch panels are the plastic trim pieces that the window switches and door locks are in...on the regular proteges they are just a flat black..on the mp3/msp/p5 they are all silver....I believe this is what they are refering to.

3. Again, not 100% sure but I believe it's actually the scuff plate they are talking about.

4. Have to ask the audio guru's. My advise would be to just get the base audio package and add an mp3 capable cd changer to the back. Car audio is something everyone is opinionated about that it's better to just get the cheapest thing you can and put your own stuff in.

not sure...your dealer SHOULD know for sure.

they dont know tho, they're so stupid i couldnt get a straight answer out of anyone there. you guys are way more knowledgeable than they are.

hahaha, thats almost always the case! I used to work for mazda and about a week into work they had a meeting for me to dicuss some of the new models coming out to the salesman so they could sell better...how lame is that!
