Brake problem

Ok now for another problem , driving home the other night and it was a light rain , went to hit the brakes and I had about 1/2 inch of brake with firm pedal then it went straight to the floor when they started to lock up . Is this normal for Mazda3 or do I need some serious brake work .

Any help would be appreciated.

Did your ABS activate? That can make the peddle feel mushy.

They may have , it was raining ,but the pedal still had what I'd call excessive travel while stopped completely and still felt mushy ,it took some time for the feel to return to what I would call "normal" .

That doesn't sound right. I'd get it checked out.

What did you end up finding out in regards to this. I have had similar issues, however this last time there was NO SNOW, ICE or WATER... plus no sound of my ABS kicking in.
