Brake pads

I think brake pads were discussed some time ago but I can't find the threat so my question is...
What make and kind of brake pads can u guys recommend for the MZ3 ?
There's Duralast and other brand names + metallic , semi -metallic, ceramic etc
What's best for the car and the pocket?

do NOT buy "duralast"....they are absolute garbage. I'm a little biased because I work for NAPA but I can tell you this without prejudice or hesitation.

EVERY brake pad NAPA sells (including our budget Tru-stop) will meet or exceed the OE pad from the dealer.

Here's what I'd suggest. Call your local NAPA, ask them if they have a SS pad for your car. SS pads are ceramic safety stops. They are a ceramic blend. they aren't hard on your rotors like a ceramic or metallic. they dust less than an organic (OE pad material) and they last longer and brake harder than a metallic. In the 4 ranks of brake pad quality they are #2....1 being the cheapest. They are a great pad at a fair price.

If for whatever reason they don't have a SS pad look for the Ceramix pad. I would normally suggest an OE pad but I'm hating my OE pads on everything I've had since my MSP. the 3S, RX8, MS6 have all sucked ass.

I had Hawk HPS (High Performane Street) pads on my MINI. They were great. Less dust, almost no noise, and much better than stock stopping power. :bt:

It looks like they are available for the 3 for '04 and '05. If they start making a pad for the '07, that's what I'll buy when I wear out my stockers.

Hawk's = $$$ but I agree they are great pads.
