Blowoff valve MS3

I'm thinking about a blowoff valve for my speed three. Has anyone else bought and or installed one? I've heard the cream of the crop is the HKS supersequential. Then another fellow told me that the Hybrid one you can adjust?? Anybody have pics.

Heres my take on this, and I am sure you have heard this before. There really isnt any gains from getting the BOV. All I ever hear is the one real gain is that its gonna be stronger than the stock valve. If you get one, you will need to run it recirc and not VTA. Our trim is pretty damn rich as it is, and VTA, will probably make it worse.

And then there is the sound. If the sound is what your after, then consider one of the CAI's out there. Not sure if you have one already. But I have the mazdaspeed cai on my MS3 and when I let off the gas while in boost, you can really hear it. And its pretty damn loud.

I know this isnt exactly answering your questions. But for $300 I got the cai, with actual HP/TQ gains. Plus the bov sound and the turbo spool. Much better than paying ~$250 for the BOV's that are out there and the adapters needed to bolt them on.

This is the hybrid one

Like Chipotle said, there's no horsepower gains from a BOV. If you just have some money burning a hole in your pocket though, might as well get one ;) Get the CAI first, and you should be able to hear if your stock BOV is leaking or not.

blow off the blow off

Thanks guys I had talked to a couple friends and they said the same thing about the blow off into the atmosphere wouldn't work as well as recirculating. Glad to hear about the CAI sounding good. I think I'll try the exhaust and CAI instead. quick question did you have the dealer install it for saving warrenty? I had a 04 M3 before and I did the CAI myself but I really don't want to sacrafice my warrenty. Know what I mean

I have the CPE intake on my Speed3,love it! The stock BOV is crap, We have 2 leaking ones. One on the speed3, the other on my wife's CX-7, modded with TMIC and a CAI. We have the hybrid on order, will run recirc, as that is what the engine is expecting.

Warranty is also only voided on the part you replace. Mazda sells an AEM CAI as a Mazdaspeed, under Green Warranty when they install it. 12/12K miles. I just do not like the HID ballast being mounted to it though.

I know this is out of topic, but I need to buddy up with someone whose from Northern Jersey. I just bought a mazdaspeed3 CAI, I havent installed it yet (no torque wrench) It'd be cool if I know people with MS3 around my area who I can be buddy with. Anyways, I'm from Belleville, if anyone of y'all is from around here we should roll. Aiite peace out.

I know there are a ton of Protege and 3 owners in the Northern Jersey area ... try posting something in the Regional section looking for people to meet up with.

BTW, you don't need a torque wrench to install a CAI. Sure they have recommended torque settings, but it's not critical for that install.

thanks boost. I'll try postin there, and if my friend forget to bring his torque wrench tomorrow then I'll install it. Thanks

I installed my CAI and it's awesome. I can hear my turbo spoolin now and when I release the gas I can hear the stock recirc bov. I hear it more when the window is down. I wonder if tuner heads hear it when I pass by them goin in the other direction on the street or on the highway. I'll take a bideo when I get the time and I'll post the link here. peace
