Auto lights, rear parking sensors & mud flaps on brand new Mazda 3 Maxx

Hi Guys,

Just paid a deposit on a black, auto, Mazda 3 maxx sedan for my wife. Will be picking it up in a fortnight. Apart from the extras I ordered already I am now thinking of ordering the items in the title.

The dealer wants to charge as follows:

All in AUD

Auto lights: $199.00
Rear parking sensors: $575.00
Mud flaps f + b: $200.00

Do you think I should get these? As it's for my wife I think I'd definitely get the parking sensors but not so sure about the auto lights. The mud flaps will come in default grey and the dealer reckons they'll look good on the black car as is.

Thanks

fortnight? ahh you're in austrailia.
I'm not familiar with the MAXX - is that what they call a GT model? or is there some other difference?

In any case, I added a set of backup sensors I got off ebay for like $30. It's just a set of ultrasonic sensors that beep when you're close to an object. I have just two near the licence plate pointing out and there's only a small blind spot dead center. But it works great.
If you have fabrication skills and don't mind running wiring, doing it yourself is FAR cheaper. Mine are wired to a seperate switch, so they can be on all the time - lets you know if someone is coming too close behind you at a stop light. There's a perfect little plastic knockout piece in the cup holder area where I mounted the on/off switch - blends in perfectly.

Personally i'm not a fan of auto running lights, they can come on and off when it's dusk (instead of just coming on and staying on solid) and they are on too early for me. Note i've also done a project to allow the fog lights to come on with the running lights, instead of with the normal headlights only. Concerning the auto lights, when it's dusk and I just want to be seen, running lights and the fogs work great.

Good luck with the new ride.
