Another Pesky Oil Change Thread. 2007 Mazda3I - 2.0 Engine

Ok, so my sister who owns this car hasnt changed her BS oil in about 10,000 miles....

So I went out and bought her some oil (5w-20) which is what her engine calls for and says...

I hear this might not be the easiest thing. I will take out the skid guard with a 10mm bolt or something. So lets say I take this bad boy out.... and everything is revealed...

Do I need special tools?

I heard (based on reading these forums) that from 04-08 and possibly 09, that the oil filter is a regular spin on filter....

So I went to Autozone. Got some fully synthetic 5w20 and a Purolator Oil Filter. I dont know what everyone is talking about when it comes to this special o-ring and gaskets... It just looks like a normal spin on filter...

They searched the part number in their database and I found and know that I have a Mazda3I- 2.0 Liter Engine. He searched the corresponding part that fit the car and then I bought it....

So now I am here... Wondering if there are special tools... I have a pump to drain all the oil so I dont need to take out or mess with any drain plugs...

But what about the filter? Need a special wrench? Can I spin it off? Let me know pleaseeeeeee

I will
1. Drain out all the oil (Pump it out)
2. and then I want to drain the oil from the oil filter and take it off to replace it.
3. Seal everything and fill it up with oil

Last question, anybody know the quantity holds... 4.5 quarts??

Thankssss
Saum
