AC Clicking Noise at 750 RPM

I have 2006 Mazda3 and had the AC fully replaced by Mazda 2.5 years ago. Living in Singapore means AC is on all year round. Lately I have a fast clicking noise that cuts in ONLY when the the RPM's drop to around 750 or less sitting at the lights. If I press gas to increase revs to 800 RPM or higher the clicking stops. The clicking does not happen at all if AC is disengaged so it is definitely linked to the AC compressor. The noise starts and stops randomly although I have been living with it for about 4 months now it is getting worse every week to the point where I am worried it will kill the entire compressor. Strange thing is the AC inside the care works fine. I have taken to multiple garages for their analysis and they all say its the AC compressor needs changing. Given its only 2.5 years old with original Mazda parts and the fact the AC works fine inside the car I worry the techs are just telling me this to increase their bill without proper troubleshooting. Is there any other possibility like belt issues or am I doomed to paying for another new compressor? The last Mazda part only had a 2 year warranty and wouldn't you know it the noise started at 2.2 years.
