300 to the ground
I just became a user today... yay! Anyway I have had my 06 3 5-door for just about a year now. In the future I want to put 300 h.p. at the tires. Possible or pipe dream?:)
|
possible. you could prolly put down 300 w/ boost & the bottle...can't guarantee you'll be able to drive it off the dyno tho...
|
Don't use a bottle. You can get to 300 with forced induction and some other boltons. Do you have the 2.0 or 2.3?
|
HiBoost + forged rods = 508whp.
You're welcome. |
...anything is possible!!!...:coolkid01

You're welcome. what about adapting the sc of the chevy cobalt, the compression is different but the bore, strock and the cc are practically the same... |

there is so much wrong with that post..i dont know where to begin:tightass: |
for the beginning? its a honest question
|
bump?

if you havent found out by feb of next year ill let you know cause im getting my turbo with income tax this year ;)

bore and stroke and displacement mean absolutely nothing to whether or not a supercharger will fit an engine....bottom line is the supercharger replaces the intake manifold. So unless by some freak miracle a cobalts heads are the same exact heads off a protege, it won't fit....I suppose you could make an adapter plate, then you would need a custom belt. probably a custom hood, since with the adapter, the supercharger is going to sit awfully high in the engine bay. Then you will also need to make sure the pulley is aligned perfectly(assuming it even faces the proper way) , on top of that you will need all the FI goodies that go along with turbo applications....the s/c unit itself won't be cheap either, since most Cobalt guys are sticking with the stock blower and just upgrading pulleys, and getting one from the stearlership is going to be rediculous....
doesnt turbo sound much better now ? |
:( yeah... thanks for the enlightenment... BUT (yeah I'm a feisty one) what i meant by those numbers was that the engine has the same size and has the same air/fuel capacity thus using the same blower and ignition maps seemed plausible at the time, the only thing that bothers me is that the Mazda has very high compression ratio, so my more precise question is does the OEM configuration of the air volume that the Cobalt s/c displaces, will blow my engine? :D
the custom manifold its a given... I searched the forum but couldn't find the post that i swear I read about the the S/C Kit that Rodimus has... |

OK. the air/fuel/and ignition maps are not exactly transferrable from a chevy to a mazda...the mazda compession ratio is fine for forced induction...your question about blowing your engine is too vague though.... if you could get a cobalt eaton blower to fit your car, whether or not it would blow your engine would depend on what you do for fuel mangement...if you just slapped it on there somehow and crammed more air in there without adding more fuel, sure it would blow.... it's not really a feasible option for FI on your ride though...a turbo kit makes WAY more sense...I get the idea of being unique and blazing a trail, but it's really just throwing ggod money after bad, especially if wha youre really after is more power, and not just a show piece..... hope that is elaborate enough to answer your question... |
thanks :) so doable but why bother if there are turbo kits out there... got ya....

Thanks
I really appreciate all the help guys. I'm glad it can be done without NOS (too much wear and tear to the engine). My goal is to eventually get the power I want. Eventually turbo, new heads (DFI), exaust, exaust manifold, intake, fuel pump, suspension, torsion bars, lighter wheels and summer tires. I dont think I've covered everything that i want to do to my car. Oh a european paint job if you understand what i mean about that. I figure by the time I am done with all of that ill have paid for my car 3 times over. I wish i knew photoshop better so i could figure out the style and the wheels. Also I have chosen Flik Wasp 18' wheels black of course. Im not a big contrast flashy guy so chrome is not my style. I will probably get a lot of replies about that. Anyway. I'm looking forward to the comments. Thanks again guys.
