I have a 2011 Mazda 3 sedan. Recently I have become unable to open the trunk with the trunk button on the keyless entry remote. Neither remote works. The release latch next to the drivers seat does work.

When I stand by the trunk an press the button I hear a sound from near the trunk latch. It seems something is happening, but the trunk isn't opening.

Before I start trying to detach the trunk lid lining/cover, could this be something simple that I can fix on my own? Potentially just something got disconnected? If so, what are the steps to do it?

Or is this more likely a complex issue? Something I'll either have to live with or have a pro fix?

You've described exactly what I'm experiencing with my 11' mazda3. Have you found any solution yet? I'm also looking for a solution. I also hear the slight click noise when holding down the trunk button, but it doesn't open.
