The 3000 or so is all the owners manual requires (see maint schedule) - though that doesn't mean it's the best for the engine, just to get it out of warranty.
Do observe the breakin period, a few hundred miles of light driving, especially a good idea on a high output engine like the speed.
I'm with you, changed my oil at 1000, 5000 and every 5000 after that, oil & filter every time.

http://www.mazdaparts.org/mazdaspeed3.html doesn't show the 2010 yet
But as long as it's got the mazda stamp on it you should be fine, no matter where you buy it.

Thanks!!!!! full synthetic oil?????

It's not discussed in my maintenance schedule, but synthetic may have a warranty schedule in your speed model. The benefit of synthetic is that it doesn't break down as quickly... though there's no recommended time for synthetic according to mazda, so it may not cover your warranty.
You'll have to look up the info on operating temperature to see if synth is any better than dyno, but I don't think there's much difference. Let your turbo cool before turning the engine off and you'll probably be fine. You could put a temp gauge on the turbo (pyrometer), see how hot it or the oil exiting it is running - that could assist quite a bit to keep things from overheating the oil.

I changed mine at 1k, then I will again at 1500, then at 3k. Then 3k
from there on out.

Same motor, different transmission, different tune, different ECU.
