1990 Mazda 323 Swap Question

Well, I am new to this forum as I just purchased a 1990 Mazda 323 (2door, 5 speed) for my son (He's 13) and I to work on and make it a 1/4 mile car.

I have a question for all of you Mazda Experts.... Can I swap a Mazda V6 2.5L 200HP KLZE Engine into the 323? If not, what is my best option?

Our ultimate goal is to pack as much HP as we possibly can - 300+ is our initial goal... Any help from you guys would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Yes, It has been done by TravisGT on Probetalk.

You have two options. Find an A spec 2.5 Klde and turbo the car, or get a j-spec klze and spray it. Spraying is cheaper and will only require a fuel pump and clutch upgrade. If you want it to last very long t get forged internals. I would choose another car if I were you because the week ling on these cars is the tranny. Once you get near 300 hp you better have a few junk yard tranny's on hand. The tranny is the week link.
