'08 3 with p0791 trans code
intermediate shaft speed sensor circuit, im not finding anything pointing to a relative fix, engine stalls, runs rough intermittently, and dosent seem to shift well, where is this sensor located, im wondering if its connection related. 5 speed auto.

I pulled the turbine input speed sensor to inspect and confirm good connection, thanks for the link, im guessing the intermediate shaft sensor is the described rear lower sensor?
Yes; see Mazda 3 S 2006 Mazda3. Transmission slips from 5th to 3rd, scroll down and you'll eventually find pictures.
I ordered a repair cd and it dosent cover this trans code, so I went to the dealer and just ordered the part, their parts diagram dosent show this part that well, they couldn't tell if it had 3 wires.
it was the right part, lasted 6 drive cycles and reset p0791, im in need of a wiring diagram for the 5 speed auto, with pcm connector/wire identification, or a place I can get a manual
so this is a real factory manual, covering wiring for trans?
Yes I assume so; as they state "This is a complete Factory Service Manual ". The pics also look like those in the factory manual I have for the later BL mode. You are lucky LHD manuals both factory and aftermarket are readily available but I have nor been able to get one for the RHD model as sold in Japan, Australia (where I am and UK); even the Australian published Gregory's one is simply the Chilton's with gallons and miles changed to litres and km; they haven't even reversed the pictures use and don't cover the few bits that different in the RHD models.
BTW other causes of this code include low or dirty ATF, solenoid malfunction or valve body failure. I would start by checking the colour and level of the transmission fluid. |
awesome, fluid is well maintained every 40k, level good, ive also got Mitchell online to purchase information, but its for a short term "per vehicle specific" and id rather have a print or cd copy, ill post my confirmation, thanks aussi !
