Mazda Sport Springs
 

Anyone have experience with the MazdaSpeed sport springs? I have an 07 2.3L GT and am planning on getting the Mazda sport springs (to keep warranty)...just curious if it made the ride too stiff etc.

Don't modify your car and expect to keep your warranty. A warranty is just a word they use to make you feel comfortable so you'll spend a lot of money with them. It doesn't exist.

Having said that I like mazdapseed suspension because most of it is Racing Beat and they are the most notable mazda tuners around. Good stuff. Of course Eibach, Koni, Tokico, Tein all make good stuff as well. Personal preference.

If I were to get the sport springs installed what advantage would installing the sport dampners have?

do you know what they are? It seems a real common sense question.

Dampeners (aka shocks) adjust the rebound rate of the springs. shocks and springs go hand in hand and should always be paired together for best results. Hence buying the Mazdaspeed package as a set makes more sense.

If I were to have the MS springs installed with stock dampners I would still get a difference though correct? Even though I have the stock dampners the rebound rate of the new spring will still be higher right? Supposedly 30%. That's what I was trying to ask.

Mazda has 3 warranty levels indicated by color coding to indicate what coverage you will have.For example, I got a Mazdaspeed CAI which has an orange warranty level covering problems with installation only.Any damage to my engine as a result of using this part is my problem.Keep that in mind considering you could probably find better or cheaper aftermarket parts.

You're a fool if you believe a warranty actually exists. If you happen to get them to fix something for free consider it a blessing and don't get your hopes up for them doing it again.

Mazda is notorious for shitty warranty service.

That was my understanding as well newspeed3. Although the Mazdaspeed CAI I got came with a green warranty.

In Canada,a Mazdaspeed CAI comes with an orange level which carries no warranty.Anyway,they aren't going to help you if you suck water into your engine.Mazda does have shitty service,at least where I live:FU2:

I have heard that from many people. Fortunately, my Dad does finance for a dealership that i can sometimes go to...(when I'm in Oregon) and the Mazda guys are good about following my warranty rules because he has been there for years. Maybe you need to drive to AK and use our dealership in Anchorage...they have been good to me too. You have a Speed3 it should only take a few minutes.

I don't understand why you'd want to ruin the suspension tuning Mazda worked so hard on by simply swapping out the springs. Your car will handle worse than stock unless you match that increased springrate with increased damping, i.e. performance shocks or struts or whatever they are on the MZ3.

On the other hand, if you don't care about handling or ride quality and just want to lower your car, then by all means proceed.

I will be doing the dampners soon after as well...thanks for the concern. Although I'm not sure the skidpad test will be worse than stock with just an increased spring rate.

True, on a smooth skidpad. But in real-world street or track conditions, the difference would be apparent. :)
