buying 17 inch tires is painful

Man I was intending on getting snows for my car this winter ... but with 17 rims all winter tires are over 600 bucks w/ mounting and stuff.

So I'm like ok I'll at least get a set of good all seasons. The only tire that I found that ... with mounting and stuff that is under 500 is a set of Falken Ziex ZE-912's.

Which ... I've used the ZE-512's and they were a really good tire ... so this should be a good tire. Price out the door is 416.20. Which is the best deal on a good 205/50/17 tire that I could find. These tires are the only good tires that are under 100 bucks a piece.

Even Dunlop SP sport signature tires are like 120 bucks a piece and by that time I might as well buy winter tires he he.

IDK I am very frustrated right now. I have to wait an entire week to get them also because my tire place has to order them from across the country for my size...*sigh*....DAMMIT.

It would be better if I wouldn't of bought the car with balding toyo's in the front and shitty conti's in the back.

*screams* :FIREdevil

fyi, 205/45/17 is a more common tire, and may be a bit cheaper....

(the stock tire size is 205/50/17

I decided to go with the Falken ZE-912's ... 205/50/17's.

The best deal around for a set of good all seasons in that size ... being low profile tires and all.

I will probably run those through the winter and then run them through summer and take the money I've saved on tires and buy upgrades for my car ... like an exhaust system .... :blue:

I'm going through this right now. 205/50R17 is definitely a tough tire to size up for any reasonable price at the local shops. looks like i'll be ordering from the net and taking them to a shop for M&B. I had Kumho ECSTA ASX on my last Protege5, and though I liked the ride they provided, they lasted only ~18k miles. Before I pull the trigger on those Falkens, I'd be glad to entertain others' opinions. (or if you know someone who knows someone who knows someone who can hook me up  )

Yea I got the falken's on mine. I am honestly not very impressed with the "all season" portion of these tires. idk if I have been spoiled by winter tires ... or I am just not used to really low profile tires that 17s are ... but the light snow traction on these tires are terrible. I definately expected better.

Hopefully I will be able to due dedicated summers and snows soon....so expensive
