18" RX8 wheels on 3?

I came upon 2 stock silver 18" RX8 wheels and tires the other day, only 2. I was wondering if they would fit om my 3 at all? of course i would get 2 more to make a full set before i put them on. i was thinking i could buy 2 new rims from ebay or somewhere, and sell my stock 17" rims from my 3. i figured i could make a hundred bucks or so from the whole transaction, and end up with 18's. do the 18's even fit the 3 or what? or would all this be a waste of time any how? i just want to know if they would fit, i would think so...

I know the lug pattern is the same, but Im not sure on the off set between each wheel.

Ive seen it on a 3 before. Just in passing, it was parked, and I was like woah!
Dont know anything about it, but it looked pretty nice.

My guess is it fits well.

I know there's tire rubbing on the mazda 6
im guessing you will have to roll the fenders just like the 6

They will fit. the offset for the 3 is +52 the Rx-8 is +50 you have to change the tires to 225/40/18'sand it will work fine.

Stole this pic from a site a long while back(sorry if it's yours-no offense meant). Our MZ3 is the same color(Winning Blue), and I've been trying to dig up a set.

instead of changing tires, it'll probably be cheaper to just buy some 5mm spacers to make them work.

I think from what I remember, my friend had them on his hatchback and without spacers, it may rub in the front tires because of the RX8 rims are 18x8 during hard corners.

Get some spacers at least in the front. The rear should be fine.

any suggestions for where i can get this done...?

hi

sorry in advance for any dumb questions. just joined here and just recently bought a new 3 with all the bells and whistles. i had one of the very first sold in the US in 2004 (strata blue, pre 2.3 badge on the doors) but had to let it go when i left the country. that made me very :-( i'm glad to be back in the mazda3 family again, though -- i don't think there's a better car for the coin.

anyway... when i heard of people putting the rx-8 rims on their 3's i was intrigued. i have a silver one and i've got no doubt these wheels would rock on it. my question for you vastly more experienced lot is... where would you suggest getting this done? is it the kind of thing you can go to the dealer for?

thanks in advance for you answers...

ooops... an another stupid question: how would this affect a vehicle with a TPMS? will it still work?

This would not help one bit a 5 mil spacer would make the fronts rub even more. you're pushing the whole rim towards the outer fender. you might mean getting the hub of the wheel machined down a mil. or 2 this would suck the rim in a little. but then you might have to worry about rubbing on the inner fenders.

oh yeah tmps part #'s are the same for the Rx-8 and the 3 so dont worry about that

If you've lowered the car, the RX8 rims plus their stock tires wont fit. I had to change out the tires for some lower profile ones since I've lowered my car.

But, they look so good!!!

wow, does it work well?
