Worth it? Dealership 30K service
Hello. Looking for thoughts. I have a '10 Mazda 3 with, yes, almost 30k on it. Got a letter from the dealership I purchased it from telling me that my 30K service is needed.
Here's what they want to do FOR $485.14: oil change and filter rotate tires - inspect for wear inspect coolant system / drain and fill colling system inspect steering operation and linkages lubricate all hinges, locks and latches (CV) boots inspect and top off all fluids inspect all belts, hoses, lines and clamps, front suspension ball joints Perform "full circle service inspection" inspect brakes inspect constant velocity replace air filter inspect function of all lights inspect timing belt/chain So that's what the coupon said. It sounds like it's basically an oil change, coolant change and a basic inspection on the car. I doubt very much I will do this. I'm just wondering what other Mazda owners have to suggest. Thanks |
it's not too bad of a price to do all that, since the timing belt is inspected... but i doubt it's needed. As long as you don't hear unusual rattling or anything from the engine you should be fine.
If you're nervous, any normal mechanic can give it a once over to check the CV joints, ball joints, steering, coolant, belts - that's what can leave you stranded with little notice. I don't trust that full circle service, I got an RX7 that had been taken care of under mazda service and they overlooked things like the rear diff fluid and a throttle setting that was way off. |
