Welcome to our new section

Mazda Service Info is a new section I'm making to help the spread of knowledge to us owners who wish to be "in the loop".

"Snap-on" is a mazda service manager and really wants to help grow the community. Because of his ability to provide us with current info and his obvious experience with our vehicles I'm making him the moderator of this section. It'll be used as a tech section to store and catalog various recalls, warranty issues and dealership updates.

This is yet another forum asset.

Let's all thank him for his time and willingness to share with us when others do not extend their hand to our communities.

Nice idea! Good way to keep up to date with any problems that are announced, especially for those with newer models like the 3, 5, and 6!

BOOSTD 7 February-14th-2006 02:10 PM

Yea, good idea ...

Hey, since snap-on is a Mazda service manager, you think he'd be interested in 'running' the same type of forum on www.rx8club.com ... and in the near future when I get the Mazda 6 forum up and running?

Roddimus Prime February-14th-2006 02:11 PM

very possible. I'll ask him and see.

I am trying to replace the wheel bearings on my wife's '03 P5.
Any tricks or tips to remove the wheel hub locknut?!! I just can't seem to break it free.

If there is a thread on this would appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Rick h

Roddimus Prime December-14th-2006 12:59 PM

A long breaker bar and stand on it. Of course it helps if you're 260lbs.

KrayzieFox December-14th-2006 01:14 PM

I'm a scrawny 140 lbs. and I managed to do it with a long enough pole. A strong breaker bar, and a 4 ft. hollow steel pole will do the trick. With a big enogh lever, you can get enough force to lift/break free just about anything ...

Some WD-40 usually helps. If not, try pouring some motor oil it - helps a lot.

If i can provide any additional info no Mazda vehicles i will do so. I'm a Tech for Mazda in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada.

Fuel Pump woes

---'99 Protege w/ 1.8L, 5spd, has 2" exhaust, had K&N cone 'till 30ooomiles ago---
I am having problems with what I believe is my fuel pump (again).
The unit was replaced under warranty when the car was about 2 yrs old.
I now have 180oook (110ooomiles) and it looks as if I might need another.

At 3000-3750 rpm, 2/3 to full throttle, gears 3 to 5, the car stumbles.
Worse at 1/2 throttle in 4th & 5th.
Sometimes wont even keep highway speed.
Will idle day & night, no wierd noises

Are the fuel pumps a common replacement...2 in 120ooomiles of sevice? (a Q for the Service guys)
How do I go about attaching a fuel pressure gauge? I cant find a shraeder valve, so I am lost (I'm use to the now Lo-Tech or use-to-be-Hi-Tech systems  )
Could the P0240 (Cat below efficiency) codes I erased 2x in the last 3wks to a month be related?

Other areas I am checking include the I-coils & o2s :dunno:

t24u January-10th-2007 12:09 AM

Sounds like your cat is plugged. Is that the only code that you have? Do you have any o2 sensor codes?

t24u January-10th-2007 12:12 AM

Did you get the flash for the "loss of power" problem? What did it do differently after the flash? You can re-program the PCM to the factory settings before the flash, using something called "as-built" data. The only way to obtain this data is through Mazda Technical Support. The only problem with that, is it removes all the fixes that the flash included.

Mazda is great about offering new reflashes continuously throughout the year, the latest reflash will have the new fixes plus all the old ones.

Replaced Clock Display & Muffler Hangers

Within 5,000 miles I had the dealership replace my muffler hangers because the thing was swaying a good three inches to each side. This fixed the problem for the most part.

At 25,000 I just had the clock display replaced because about once a month, the time would jump back about a half an hour. Working fine now.

suzoom August-8th-2007 07:14 PM

have you ever had anyone complain about vibration in front floor boards or tire howling at speeds 45 or higher? sure like to get answers to these blaffling problems, as my dealerships here in mi. tell me this is a common problem with the mazda3s (2005) is this true?

Hey folks, I'm new to the site. I have a 04 Mazda 3 with heating problems. I came across the post below from this site. There was no response to his post. I would really like to find out if he fixed his problem or not. My problem is exaclty as he posted, right down to the gurgling.
Would any of you have any ideas that I can try.

Hello all. First time on the board and I am looking for some assistance on (the only) problem I have had with my 2004 Mazda3s 5 door. In a nutshell, the car blows cold air at idle even after the engine is warmed up. Living in New England, that means that when you start your car to warm it up, it will always blow cold air until you begin driving, no matter how long the car has been running.

At 1700 RPM's or above, the heat blows normally but when you stop in traffic or at a traffic light, it simply blows cold air again. I have had Mazda look at it and they said it may be a blown head gasket ( a tiny head gasket leak) but when a test was done running 170lbs of air through each sealed cylinder, no bubbles were observed in the coolant recovery tank. Also, I haven't noticed any coolant los or white smoke typically associated with a head gasket problem.

I hear air gurgling through the HVAC system when I am driving and I have had the cooling system "burped" three times to remove any air pockets if that matters.

The car was in an accident before I bought it, and I am cool with that and all since it was fully disclosed, and it now has 44K miles on it.

I do know that the water pump was replaced, or I was told it was, and I have had every hose checked and rechecked as well as a new thermostat. Also, and very important, the engine does not overheat or even run hot. The gauge is where it is supposed to be.

Mazda rx8

Hi, I recently joined your forum cause I could not find any Mazda RX8 Club in the phils. (for obvious reasons). Is this club limited to Mazda 3 owners only? Will there be a space for RX8 owners at this forum? I wanted to know more about this RX8 I recently bought. Hope there are fellow RX8 owners in this thread.

Thank you.

norman

I have a mazda familia 1500cc model of 1999 and it has 219464 Km on its conter. But i have a problem with the hold button. It flushes on at any time and the car goes crazy. What i can do? I changed the oil and the filter of the gearbox what i can do else?

Thank you...

asharca August-30th-2012 02:44 AM

You like the Mazda6 concept car? i thought it was too unrealistic. yea i know concepts are suppose to be crazy but how are they suppose to make a production model based off of this while keeping it affordable and looking somewhat like the concept and you new section of talking is good.

hassanov December-17th-2014 01:20 AM
