Temperature sensor problem on a 2006 Mazda3 2.3 Liter

There is this white line on the temperature sensor on my 3..
The temperature sensor is a round button located on the top center of the dash board.
as you can see on the picture, there is a white line opposite of each other running through the sensor. Does anybody know why that's there?

I have no problems with the temperature reading but I'm worried something may happen in the long run.

thanks for your help

I think it's an ambient light sensor for the HVAC system to compensate for sun loading.

But are the white lines wires, paint? can you tell?

They are white lines like paint.. like something is linking through it.. the white line close to the dash goes all the way down to the vent.

I brought it in to the dealer a week ago to have it checked but my warranty was over and they want to charge me $109.00 just to diagnose the problem.

Anybody have this on there Mazda3?

its just a crack in your dash no big deal. just fill it with a little paint or put some black paint covering it. just be careful not to mess up the sensor.

I have the same line or crack and it appeared after I had work done at a dealership for electrical issues, I was just gonna use a sharpie to color it in. What does the sensor do? interior temp ?
