Reverse Lights Don't Work

I got into my 05 mazda 3 hatchback the other night to go home and i started to back up...my brother looks at my car and tells me that my reverse lights are not working...i checked the bulbs which are not burnt. But i can't find the fuse for the reverse lights! any ideas where it could be or what could have done this and how to fix it?!?!? :Wconfused

-Any help is appreciated

You don't have a manual for your car?
You know it's a free download on mazdausa.com after registering in the owners section.
Anyway............................if you don't want to do that and don't have a manual, PM me and I'll send you a pdf version.

Anyway, it's located in the fuse panel under the glove box. It's #79 and is a 10amp. It's possible you could also have a bad reverse switch, but check out the fuse first. I'd also go back and make sure the connection to the bulb back in the rear is okay as well.

ok thanks. I didn't think to look in the owner's manual. I will check the fuse though. Thanks.

I believe there is a diagram on the fuse box cover also.. maybe..

yeah there is a diagram but I didn't know which fuse it was because there is no fuse that says anything like "reverse lights"...I ended up looking in the manual and found that the fuse is named "back" or something like that. I have not had time to check it yet...I am going to check tomorrow...I am hoping the fuse is what is causing the problem because i don't want to have to go looking around my transmission for the switch... :shift:

ok so i checked the fuse and that is fine...that means i have to find the stupid switch around my transmission...hopefully i can replace that...

Well.......make sure it's not the connector(s) back in the rear before you go hunting. You might even want to throw in a known good blub also, just for the hell of it before you dig any further.

I already checked the connectors...I checked the bulbs with one of those multimeter things and they are good...
