PO882 engine code TCM low input?

I have a Check Engine light that comes on all of the time now, code is;
PO882 TCM input signal low.
I have checked the wiring and everything looks clean and dry. I installed a new battery, and the light went out for a while, but came back full time now. Transmission shifts fine, everything is fine except the stupid light on the dash is driving me crazy.
Do I need to replace the TCM? I really do not want to spend $500 for something I don't need.
Any help will be welcome
