odd odometer behavior

Hi

I got a brand new Mazda 3 recently (1.6, Activematic transmission, European Model). It has about 1100 km on the clock. Anyway, yesterday when I switched off the engine and lights I realized, the the odometer displays Trip A and total mileage figures.

Everything is switched off, yet there it is, all the actual numbers.

Anyone with the same problem or anyone with a solution?

Thanx

P.S. Strangely enough, my Mazda 626 always displayed how much fuel I got in the tank - even with the engine shut down :-)

i dunno about the european models, but i think they're supposed to stay on, or they go off eventually. i know mine (in my 3) stay one, i dont recall if they are one when i get back in my car (id check right now, but its way to cold outside)
and i wouldnt worry about it tho.

Having the digital odometer still on is common of many cars, just like when you remove the key your overhead light in the car may come on. Watch the odometer for a few seconds and it will go off. As far as the gas gauge still reading when the car is off, it is mechanical, not electrical, so it will work regardless of if the car is on or off.

Mazda has designed the odometer to stay on for 5 minutes after you have switched off the engine, hope it helps
