Headlight Issue

I seem to be burning out headlights fairly rapidly on my Mazda 3 2005. I replaced the bulbs last night and the drivers side low beam doesn't work. Brights work fine and I see no problem with the bulb. Is there an issue with the connectors or something else that would cause the drivers side low beam to burn out about every 4-5 months?

Is there any moisture in the lamp?

If you don't clean the bulb on install that can shorten its life - then you say it's just the drivers side. During installation, use alcohol and a cloth to clean the bulb, then allow it to touch nothing when being put into the lamp housing.

Is this with stock lamps (normal white lamps), or some ultra white / blue etc...? - the alternate lamps can have a shorter life from running hotter or having coatings on the lamps... depending on the coating.

Is there any discoloration on the plug for the lamp? If the socket is loose, it could be overheating - then that should effect the housing and result in corrosion instead of a dead lamp.

You may also have an alternator going, which could be running your car at a higher than normal voltage.

Drove over a pothole with a 2005 Mazda 3 sport and the burnt-out light came back to life. Check for loose wiring.
