Electrical Problem!!!!!

I'm relatively new to Mazda's so be patient with me. I searched the forums and can't seem to find anyone with this problem so if anyone has any input please let me know....

I start the car just fine, drive it for about 30 seconds and the power steering light, AT light come on, the cruise doesn't work, the speedo doesn't work, and the odo doesn't work. Turn the car off and start again, everything goes back to normal until the next 30 seconds. Battery and alternator check fine.

2004 Mazda 3 S Hatch, 2.3 auto.

This is my daily driver and I hate to run up miles on the other ride. Ideas?

behing where your brake master on the fire wall is 2 plugs. check to see if those have been damaged or need cleaned. if not, i think its a cpu problem

I agree with the CPU, possibly a bad fuse. I've seen a few that have corrosion in the PJB (fuxe box behind the glove box) and if the fuse to the cluster went out it could do what you're saying.

This is what mine does. At random times in this order. The CD player display goes out and shows nothing but the time. Then the e-brake light comes on and the A/C goes out then seconds later the airbag light comes on. Then at its choosing they go off in reverse order with A/C coming back on after the e-brake light goes off. And most off the time the display stays off.

I have checked the PBJ. Have you figured yours out yet? Looking for ideas.

Hi

I'm new to the site and have the same problem as you tripleB, but if i open/close my electric windows it clears the fault for that time...

Did you have any luck with finding a solution?

I have taken to several different garages with no luck :-( I may have to consider getting rid of the car if i can't sort the problem...as can't afford the bills if it really goes wrong...

Thanks

I just reread this and noticed the 30 sec time - that could part of a security feature, only allowing the engine to run for 30 sec if the key is invalid... and it may be cutting off the instrument cluster only for some reason. Highly doubtful that could happen, but i'm not sure what they did for security features.

Did someone find the reason for this?
