easy clutch
Does anyone else think that the Mazda 3's have the easiest clucthes ever. Its not a bad thing, I was just wondering if anyone thought the same thing. Its easy but it certainly does grab, but Mazda's I guess are known for that.

Easy!
Hell yeah it's easy, I couldn't have picked a better car to learn stick. i bought it three years ago absolutely clueless as to what I was doing and now I'm a pro...still have my clutch!

I really don't like the clutch, has no feel for the engage point so i'm always getting a jerky start or shift between 1st and 2nd.
My previous manual was an 84 RX7, also a hydraulic clutch, but it had a better spring mechanism to counterbalance the clutch plate pressure... meaning that when you started to push the clutch down it was easy, then got harder as you actually moved the clutch. This I found way easier to drive than the 3's clutch. I even went so far as to remove the counter spring - I suggest others not do the same, it's pretty difficult to put back in!!! The spring makes almost no difference to the pedal feel and it's really there to keep the pedal all the way "up" when not in use - otherwise it rattles around a bit. |
