Battery Issue

Hey all...
Embarrassing question really: I have a 2005 Mazda 3. I went to replace the battery and as i re-attached the positive end, the alarm went off. I could not get it to disarm at all without disconnecting the battery. Has anyone had this problem? Am I missing something?

i've disconnected my batt & didn't have the alarm go off... try reading the owners manual, there may be something in there. Or just hit unlock on the remote, which should turn it off.

I agree with djs, you've tried your alarm fob thing right?

I have a Mazda 626 (1996)LS, 4 cylinder with 112K miles on it . The car runs good. But after every 20-22 days its battery dies...I go to the market and i purchase the new battery. You can change the battery.

Make sure your alternator is charging the battery. I've had that issue on a 1980 car, though that would only last a week or so - turns out I killed the alternator. Your alternator could be partly dead, allowing it to run loger, or maybe your car uses less energy to run so it lasts longer.
