2006 Mazda 3 Manual won't start
Never had this problem before but was getting in my car at the grocery store and the went to start my car and nothing happened. Lights worked, dashboard lights worked, wipers worked, car lights, etc.
No noise what so ever came from the engine. Tried to jump the car using another car and still the car would not start. Called tow truck guy and he sat in the car and started. I immediately drove it to the dealer. Any one have a clue what this could be. I have been searching Service Bulletins but tough to find something specific. Any help would be great before the dealer calls in the morning. |
there have been complaints of a corroded starter solenoid wire - could be your issue.
Other options are the ignition switch or clutch switch. I doubt it, but there are also issues with moisture getting in the PJB (passenger junction box) behind the glovebox and corroding things, not sure if the starter routes through this box or not though. |
Dealer said it was the clutch switch which is what the tow truck driver said. $150 to fix.

k.mazda...
I solved my problem by getting the clutch switch replaced. Is your car manual or automatic? Mine is manual. I had to press the clutch in completly and attempt to start it. then let the clutch half way out and turn the key and then press the clutch in completly again and turn the key. Its a 3 step process that I guess "trips" the clutch switch and my car would start. The first time the dealership said it replaced the clutch switch...turns out they didnt! All they did was try to repair it and not replace it. its been fine since they replaced the switch completely. |
Mine is a manual as well, but thats not the problem. I found out when I took it into the garage at the beginning of the week. Apparently , my timing chain jumped..? And there's no compression in the cylinders.. Had my dad and I very puzzled. Now I am going to pay up to $2000 to fix! Vehicles I tell ya!
Thanks for the help anyways... If only it was just that.... |
