2005 3S AC repair

When I bought my car, it was still snowing out so I didn't realize that the AC wasn't working. It's now 95-100+ daily and I got it looked at and my car didn't even have a belt on the compressor. He looked at it closer, the pulley is locked up (clutch?) but my compressor is fine. So why can I not just find a replacement AC clutch? The compressor is so expensive! Also he said something about a dryer. Does that come with a compressor?
And on that note, any recommendations for a new compressor if that's what is necessary? The least expensive compressor I've found is Four Seasons. Thanks for any and all help!

Just had an AC compressor seize up on me myself. General rule of thumb for AC repairs.... budget $1,000. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes not.

CM if the belt broke off I am pretty sure the compressor is locked up and when the clutch tried to engage it broke the belt.

This is what exactly happened to my 2007 mazda 3 that was bought brand new after ~130k miles of driving.

I did the job myself at a cost of a rebuilt compressor and new dehydrator i got on ebay for around $325. You need to get some AC solvent to blow the condensor out with compressed air as it most likely has particles inside it as the compressor died and self destructed. while you are at it replace the other belt also at the same time or you have to cut the ac belt off to get at the other one. YOu should use a AC manifold set and good vacuum pump to draw down and recharge the system. Look for my other post for tips on these ac problems as there are a few

My ac compressor locked up or the clutch locked up. Either way I'm hearing a horrible grinding sound with the ac on and off. I can't afford to get the cloth or compressor fixed so Can I just cut the Ac belt and keep driving with no problems And get it fixed when I get the cash
