2004 Mazda check engine light

:crook:Hi there, I was wondering if someone could help me....I have a 2004 Mazda 3 125, 000kms the check engine light has been coming on and off for a few months now. Just the past few days when stopped at a light, it feels like the car will stall , and actually today it did 3x...I was thinking it was that i purchased bad gas, so i put in fuel injector conditioner and gas line antifreeze but not working - also the air bag light is on and won't go off. HELP!..... Is there anyway I can find out the codes without going to a garage as I'm pretty broke right now and they charge about 80 - 100 bucks cdn. Thanks in advance for any advise.:tool:

The stalling at red light happened to me with the same car. I just cleaned the throttle body and the problem stopped. You have to remove the tube connecting the mass air flow to the throttle body. Then since the throttle body is electronic click the key twice in the ignition but dont turn the engine on. And have someone or a brick hold the gas peddle down to open the throttle. Then use throttle body cleaner to wipe and clean around the edge of the throttle until it is clean. Try not to get the throttle body cleaner on the throttle rod that passes throught the throttle. Wait a while to let the throttle body cleaner evaporate. Put everything back together and add some fuel cleaner to a full tank for good measure.

I'm not sure how it is in Canada, but in the US most all auto parts stores will read codes for free. You could continue trying multiple things, or you could just find out what the car is trying to tell you is wrong and actually shoot in the right direction.
